BC’s new curriculum focuses on individualized and personalized learning, student-centered teaching, and flexibility within the learning environment.
With this in mind, St. Andrew’s has implemented Focus Blocks into our Bell and Block Schedule
Focus Blocks allow students and staff to work together for the benefit of student learning and development, reflecting the main focuses of the new curriculum. Students will be supported to ensure they make effective use of their time.
Focus Blocks occur Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday as 50 minute mandatory blocks. Students’ primary responsibility in Focus Blocks is to receive support from teachers in subject areas of greatest need. Students may also use Focus Blocks to complete assignments, project work, group work, and missed tests. When doing well in all courses, students are encouraged to spend time with teachers in subject areas of personal interest, take advantage of opportunities to broaden and further learning, and provide leadership, mentorship and service to our school and community.
The attached FAQ will provide additional details to students, parents, and guardians.
