The purpose of the Course Selection Handbook is to help you plan and choose courses for your years at St. Andrew’s Regional High School. If you have any questions, please see the academic advisor or school counsellor.
Use the information in this booklet to help you:
• Select courses required at each grade level and for graduation.
• Select courses that interest you based upon their content. You must also be prepared to meet the specified requirements, particularly in the more rigorous and / or performance–based courses.
• Ensure that you have the required and recommended prerequisites. This should include planning for future years. Do not assume that you can take courses from a different grade level since this is not always possible to schedule.
• Ensure you graduate with the requirements for the post-secondary institute(s) and program(s) of your choice.
CHOOSING COURSES (Course Selection Forms above)
The courses chosen in Grade 10 can determine some of the Grade 12 courses completed and therefore the post-secondary institutes and programs to which students may apply. In order to keep options open, it can be beneficial to select a high school program that will allow some flexibility. Plan carefully because the timetable is assembled based on your initial choices. Once the schedule has been built, specific changes may be difficult or impossible to implement. Selection of a course does not ensure you will be able to fit it into your schedule, although every attempt will be made to accommodate you. If you are unsure about your options, especially if your questions pertain to graduation or university entrance requirements, take the time to see the academic advisor or school counsellor.

The local school exam schedule will be posted once it becomes available.
The BC Ministry of Education Provincial Exams site will provide students with a list of dates for provincial exams, mock exams to assist with preparation and results of provincial exams.
Learn Now BC and BC Exam Bank (username: standrewsreg password: success) are also a wonderful resources for studying for exams and other school related learning.

MyEd BC Student & Parent PortalStudent accounts in MyEducation BC have now been created for all students in grades 8-12.
Available Features of the MyEducation BC Student and Family Portal are:- View Report Cards
- Family Contact and Emergency information: This can only be viewed, not edited. Notify your child’s school to update information or correct errors.
- Student Schedule: View current class schedule.
- Academic Information: Get real-time access to your child’s assignments and grades for those teachers who use the MyEducation gradebook. You can even see progress reports, report cards, transcript history, and graduation progress.
- Attendance Information: View real-time information on your child’s historical and current attendance records.
Students will have a brief tutorial on the navigation and functionality of the application and have created a secure individual password for their account. Please talk to your student about this process and have them share their account information with you in order for you to access the information listed above. ( How to create a password in MyEd and password recovery )
Teachers using the MyEducation BC gradebook are now able to allow students and parents to view assignment results and current progress for your students from within the student’s account.
Please Note: some teachers may choose to continue with an alternative assessment program outside of MyEducation BC which means their course marks will not be viewable from within the portal (although all previous report card marks are visible). These teachers will use alternate methods to communicate student progress with you.
Tips- Google Chrome is the recommended browser
- Google MyEd BC to find the login page
- Bookmark the login page
- Try logging in on a mobile device for a very convenient mobile view
- Accounts are disabled after 5 invalid login attempts
- Disabled accounts must be reset at the school level – have your son/daughter ask their advisory teacher to send in a help desk ticket requesting their password to be reset.

Post-Secondary Information
Sending Transcripts to post secondary institutions
Students can provide their transcript information to a number of post secondary institutions by completing an electronic Post Secondary Institutions Selections Form online via the Student Secure Web.
This electronic PSI selections form is only to be submitted by students who expect to graduate this year and are applying to a post secondary institution.
Students access the online form by logging into the Student Secure Web and clicking the menu option “Post Secondary Institutions Selections”.

Transcripts
Current Students
Please stop by the Counselling Department to request a copy of your transcript.
Current students can also take advantage of transcript services provided by the Ministry of Education if this is your graduating school year. Also students can find out when they will receive the initial copy of their transcript or graduation certificate.
Forwarding Your Transcript To A Post Secondary Institution. If you are applying to post-secondary institutions the Ministry of Education can transfer your grades to a post-secondary institution by way of Post Secondary Institution (PSI) Selections on the Student Secure Web. You will need to create an account with the site. To create an account, you will need your Personal Education Number (PEN) which can be found on your report card.Former Students
You may obtain your transcripts or a copy of your diploma through the Ministry of Education.
